JUDY DODGE

Montgomery County Commissioner

Judy Dodge was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio where she attended Dayton Public Schools and graduated from Colonel White High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Wright State University in 1985 and graduated from the Leadership Dayton Program in 1991.  Judy was elected to the Montgomery County Commission in November 2006 and re-elected in 2008.

During her career of public service, Judy has served in a variety of capacities. She began her public service in 1985 as an Administrative Assistant to the Ohio State and Local Government Commission. She went on to become the Commission Assistant to Montgomery County Commissioner Paula MacIlwaine from 1987-1991. After her tenure with the County Commission, Judy was a Regional Liaison to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office from 1991-1995. She was employed as the Assistant Court Administrator for the Montgomery County Domestic Relations Court during her initial run for office, and was elected to the County Recorder seat in 2000 and re-elected in 2004.

Judy was recognized by the Dayton Daily News as one of the Miami Valley’s Ten Top Women in 2003. She has also been honored with the Law Day’s Liberty Bell Award and the Dayton Women’s Bar Association’s Distinguished Service Award. Judy has served on several community boards and commissions that included Miami Valley Fair Housing Center, Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative and Regulatory Committee, Sinclair Legal Assistant Advisory Board, Vandalia Housing Code Board of Appeals, Vandalia Rotary Club, Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region and Family Services Association Board.

Judy is honored to serve as a Montgomery County Commissioner, and considers herself to be a voice for vulnerable populations.  She has been instrumental in the passage of two Human Services Levies, worked to expand food security and access, established a Food Policy Coalition to improve our local food system, and launched a building energy efficiency program to ensure the region’s sustainability.

Judy currently resides in Vandalia, Ohio, and has two children and three grandchildren.
